1.4.3.1 Creating and editing collection profiles.
For Picture Checker to verify your collections you must give the program information for each collection. This is done by setting up collection profiles.
To set up a collection profile, hit the new button in the top center of the program. This will cause the Edit Collection window to appear. You will notice part of the work for this is already done for you because the default settings you established during setup apply to every collection you create a profile for. Now we have to plug in the rest of the information to the partially filled fields.
In the Collection Name field, enter the name (as you want it to appear in the Collection List of Picture Checker). It is highly recommend that you try to make sure the collection name is the same as the directory where the scans are held. This is because picture checker is intelligent and will try to automatically find the proper directory and csv.
For example, if I type "bonvarg", the partially completed "List Source Filename" and "Collection Directory" fields are automatically completed with the correct information, as shown below:
Taking advantage of this feature is by far the best way to go about creating collection profiles due to the ease. If for some reason the information is not filled in automatically, you will need to browse to the correct locations. Its basically that simple.
A couple of notes need to be made about some of the check mark fields. If a particular collection folder is very large and has subdirectories, you will need to check the Include Subdirs field. Also, if part of your collection is in a different directory [which is not a subdirectory (i.e. part of your collection is on a CD)], you will need to add this information. Do this by checking the Multiple Directories field which will allow you to click on the right facing arrows. Click on the arrows and browse to the locations of the additional directories adding them to the list of multiple directories. Further, I recommend leaving the "Don't sort from Download Directory to this Collection" unchecked as this will be used in the advanced tasks section.
Repeat this task until you have entered all the profiles for all your collections. If you have a large number of collections, it could take a while.
If at any time you need to modify any of this information, simply hit the Edit button. To delete a collection profile hit the Delete button. |
